After many years in the planning, it gives me great pleasure to officially introduce and welcome you to Sydney’s newest Theatre for The Arts, Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre.
Over 10 years in the planning and development, the Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre is a new state-of-the-art 2000 seat theatrical venue located in the centre of NSW’s fastest growing economic region, Greater Western Sydney (GWS). Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre, situated in the West HQ Precinct is just 20-25 minutes from all major Western Sydney centres and the new Western Sydney Airport currently under construction. This incredible new $100M theatre development is perfectly positioned to become the long overdue gateway to the more than 2.2 million potential audience members living and working in Sydney’s West.
Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre has been designed by Cox Architects and developed and funded by West HQ Group. The building has been created with a flowing, curved exterior ‘curtain’ façade and with grand, light-filled interior foyers finished in elegant natural finishes. The main theatre auditorium is equally unique in both its fit-out and functionality, with a warm and inviting interior with variable capacity modes ranging from 900 to 2000 when seated, increasing to 2300 capacity in concert (standing) mode. The auditorium also features a unique retractable stalls seating system which enables the auditorium to easily transform from theatre mode into concert/cabaret/conference mode in less than a few hours.
Onstage and backstage, Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre has been designed with both the performer and producer in mind, with the very latest in stage, lighting and sound technologies, and generous and comfortable performer and production management spaces for all.
Whether it’s for a major Broadway or touring musical, an Australian or international concert artist, or a world class symphony, opera or ballet, Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre has been designed and developed to deliver the best possible performance experience for both onstage artists and audiences alike.
Since our announcement in late 2017, our design and construction program has been moving ahead rapidly, with the building currently on track for its planned late 2019 opening.
It therefore gives me great pleasure to announce that Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre is now ‘open for business’ for booking enquiries, expressions of interest, and artistic and commercial partnerships. We’d like to extend an open invitation to all our industry friends and potential corporate partners to visit our new industry information portal at wspac.com.au to learn more, and contact our team to learn more about the GWS market opportunity, and how your production or artistic company can become a part of our initial 2020 and 2021 program planning.
As we head towards the 1 year to go mark, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead, and we’re very much looking forward to hearing from all interested arts companies, commercial producers and promoters and to welcoming you to Western Sydney’s new home of the Arts.
Welcome to Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre!
